GameMaker is an easy to use card based development system which allows you to create simple adventure games with graphics, buttons, and text. There is no programming or scripting language to learn. Just draw the pictures, type some text, click a few buttons, choose some options... and an adventure game is completed! You can even compile your game into a real stand-alone application that can be uploaded to online services.
GameMaker Lite is the Shareware version of GameMaker. It may be freely distributed as long as the entire package is kept intact and unmodified. You may NOT bundle it with commercial software without written permission from Al Staffieri Jr.
If you create a game with GameMaker Lite, you must pay the $10 Shareware fee. You may then create as many games as you like without owing any additional fees.
